You Tube Channel

Medela Canada has just launched the Medela Canada YouTube channel. It offers 122 Instructional videos on the entire Canadian product line, including videos on how to clean, assembled breastpumps and store milk. Here is the link Medela Canada – YouTube.

Events

In an effort to promote breastfeeding/breastmilk feeding according to Health Canada and World Health Organization recommendations, Medela Canada strategically partners with professional health organizations and consumer show promoters.

Medela Canada loves participating in consumer shows as they give great feedback from end users and allow Medela Canada to provide information to future and new moms, answer their questions and demonstrate Medela breastpumps and breastfeeding accessories. It makes a breastpump choice easier when moms can see, touch and get an explanation live and in person.

Medela Canada also participates in professional conferences to establish better relationships with the Canadian healthcare community, specifically the neonatal and paediatric groups. This helps to bring conversation (and hopefully concrete initiatives) around Human Milk Management in Canadian Hospitals and NICUs. This is not an initiative to promote the sale of specific products but as an overall human milk management solution for hospitals/NICUs. It is about treating Human Milk as a medicine for infants in the NICU.

These conference partnerships and funding are aimed at providing higher education and driving breastfeeding awareness in professional settings. Medela Canada support at consumer shows across the country promotes breastfeeding and value of human milk. Publications

Medela Canada partners with various national and regional magazines with print and digital content and ads. They focus on advertising and partnership initiatives that help educate people through content as opposed to simply having only conventional advertising. They also collaborate with many chain retail stores and pharmacy with again ads, educational content and microsite for their catalogue and website. This includes shops like Babies R us, Wal-Mart, Jean Coutu, Bo Bebe and many more!

Community Programs

Medela Canada sends discontinued products to various local organization across Canada such as women’s shelters, centres for pregnant and parenting adolescents and to a recycling program in the Toronto region that distributes new items to those in needs, keeping these usable items out of landfills.

Support for Pump Replacement Parts

  • If the parts are within the 90 days warranty period, they will be replaced under warranty.
  • If the parts are not under warranty, the customer will be provided with locations in their area where they can purchase the parts.
  • Customers are offered the option of buying the parts directly from Medela and if they live close to the office in Toronto, walk-In Customers are accepted.

Recycling Program

As the industry leader in breastpumping and breastfeeding, Medela is committed to always doing what is best for moms and babies. Medela products that come into direct contact with breastmilk, including all breastpump kits and breastshields, all collection and storage bottles, as well as feeding systems, have always been made with BPA-free plastic and these items are indeed recyclable in your local blue box program.

Due to the personal nature of the hygienic breastpumps Medela carries, they can only be used by one person. Medela Canada been looking into a more advanced program to potentially safely recycle components of the pumps, however there is not such a program in place right now.

Financial Support for Community Groups

Each year instead of sending the traditional Christmas/Holiday Card to suppliers, customers and friends of Medela, Medela Canada provides a donation for the Canadian Cancer Society Foundation. There is no financially support for any other groups other than products donation as listed above.

Medela Canada is proud of the education and support initiatives it supports in Canada. Breastfeeding mums have many places to go for support and Medela is proud to be a part of that education and support community.
